Farm Education Classes

Agricultural Education in VirginiaLooking into taking some classes this winter to learn more about a topic that interests you? Or perhaps you need more information on a certain technique of farming? Over the next few months, there are several different classes being offered to help the local farmers.

On December 2 – 4, you can attend the Virginia Farm to Table Conference . This year’s topic will be on ‘Nutrition, Health and Sustainability from the Ground Up’. There is a variety of speakers and many different panel topics. It will also have a discussion on soil health.

January 14, 21, 28 & Feb 4 Exploring the Small Farm Dream This lecture will help you get valuable information on how to start your own farm, whether a hobby or career. It will help you look at all aspects of farming, ranging from finances to planning and how to get started.

January 15- January 17 Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture Future Harvest Annual Conference . This class is in Maryland but offers more than 42 different workshops over 3 days. You will have a nice variety of classes to choose from and some of the classes are hands on.

January 29-31 VA Biological Farming Conference Three days of workshops offered by the VA Biological Farmers. Talk to other organic farmers in the area and listen to a variety of speakers, lecturing on many different topics.
