It’s summertime, and the news is full of how summer foliage is being controlled by goats. Landscapes of all kinds (lawns, golf courses, parks) are being cleared or maintained, and even underbrush and thickets are being cleared by goats hired for that purpose.
We’ve had quite a bit of response to our ‘goat series’ of articles, and so to provide ongoing information we’re going to link you to some current stories and resources about using goats for maintenance. Not all of the news is being made by Charlottesville VA goats. In Maryland a company named Eco-Goats will arrange to bring whole herds of goats to properties in the Gaithersburg area. They are already reliable ‘chewers’ who have proven that they can clear 7 acres in just 2 weeks! During that process the goats will devour invasive weeds, grasses, vines, and thickets… leaving a manageable area that can be controlled afterwards with herbicides.
