Over the past few years I’ve been asked about the foreclosure market with farm properties in the Charlottesville Virginia area. I have truly not seen many, but find it interesting that in the last month we have read about three mega-farms in some form of foreclosure.
Black Eagle Farms in Nelson County was just auctioned off last week. Black Eagle was a large livestock operation that had just recently added an organic egg business. The total operation encompassed just over 2400 acres.
Acorn Farm, a beautiful 84 acre equestrian facility in Madison County, as well as a Vineyard and Winery, consisiting of 290+ acres with a spectacular facility, all belonging to the same owner, will be auctioned on November 18, 2011
New news this past weekend, according to The Hook, is that the Kluge Vineyards and Winery in Albemarle County is scheduled for auction on December 8, 2011.
